Play With a Plan
AEE publishes sports data and analysis. It does not take bets, hold funds or tell anyone how much to wager. Every decision about whether and how much to bet is yours, and no analysis removes the risk of losing money.
That's 1-800-697-3738. You can also chat online with the National Council on Problem Gambling.
Habits that keep it recreational
- Set a budget you can afford to lose before you start, and stop when it's gone.
- Decide on a time limit, and take breaks.
- Never chase losses or bet to win back money.
- Don't bet with money meant for bills, rent or savings, and never borrow to bet.
- Don't bet when you're stressed, upset or drinking.
- Treat any analysis, including ours, as one input. Past results don't predict future ones.
Warning signs
- Betting more than you planned, or needing bigger bets to feel the same.
- Hiding betting from family or friends.
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut back.
- Gambling affecting your work, relationships or finances.
If any of these sound familiar, reach out to the helpline above. Most licensed sportsbooks also let you set deposit, wager and time limits, take a cooling-off break, or self-exclude from your account settings. Many states run their own self-exclusion programs too.
